Jun. 26th, 2003

So, we just finished watching A Midsummer Night's Dream, the version that hit theatres a few years ago, with half of Hollywood in it. It had been a while since I last saw the play; I'd forgotten bits and pieces.

Lots of fun, Very well done, over all. My only criticism being that I like my Puck a touch nastier.

Now, I'm going to be catching myself trying to think/speak in Iambic pentameter for weeks. Which is a scary thing in a man who barely knows what said meter entails.

I think in Hollywood you're only allowed to have a seriously nasty character in action films and perhaps a dark comedy. Otherwise, you get candy and sugar coating.

You're right. Puck there (I've forgotten the actor's name, but I quite like him) was more of Oberon's court jester than his right hand man.

But you gotta love Kevin Kline as Bottom. Even Ally McBeal chicky did a decent job. The bicycles were kinda neat, I thought. And hey, mud. *nods approvingly*

Stanley Tucci.

But yeah, I love what Kline, and, for that matter, Hoffman, did with bottom.

The bicycles bugged me a bit, actually...
