What the...?

I have officially broken my sleep. It is 5:26 am on a Saturday, and I am awake. There is no cahnce of getting back to sleep. I drifted off to sleep last night some time around midnight. The sun is not quite up yet, and I hear no birds. Why? Ah well. Hopefully I will at least be productive...

'tis crazy, I'll agree. I mean, it's Saturday, for God's sake. Sleeping in should be the default, not the exception.

I could kind of understand when I just couldn't sleep in very late - internal clock etc. But today I woke up earlier than I would have had to if I were working, AND had stayed up later. My body is out to get me.

On the plus side, there are waffles.

*shrug* The body does what it will do. Luckily mine is letting me sleep in to 9 these days.

But strange dreams in this new place.

Should work wonderfully vegan - the only reason I went with lard over shortening is that neither of us on this trip are supposed to be eating soy, and soy oil was ingredient #1 on the vegetable…

That looks great. The opposite of what I'm trying to do the next time I make bannock (gluten's fine, dairy isn't) but now I'm inspired.

The trick is that it requires either an oven or an actual camp fire. We might be able to take it to the singing fire - one can make the packets up in advance, then rotate them through the irons.

That fire-roasted sweet bannock sounds amazing. Is this a thing we could try at KG?

I don't know about you, but this is all part of my general scheme to be someone my teenaged self would have thought was cool. Or maybe become Batman. Either is good.
