The Atlantic glittered like liquid diamond. It had taken five years for the engineers to get the blood red colour out of the water, but it was clean now, and starting to support life again. The Queen sat on her throne, gazing out the tall windows, leaning on one elbow. She smoothed the skirts of her long, high-necked dress and stood, tucking a strand of her blue and red streaked hair behind her ear.
She stepped down from her throne, and walked towards the door. She was immediately flanked by the Valkyries, the Queen's personal Seraphim guards, dressed in purest white and armed. As the Queen climbed the stairs to the docking tower, where her airship awaited, the Valkryies' halos flickered on, activating the energy fields that would allow them to fly if need be.
As Victoria took her seat in the airship, she glanced out of solid diamond windows and watched as Boston drifted away.
