Hrm.

Last night, I may have slightly overdid it at the gym. No injury, but I'm still feeling wiped and shakey the next day. This meant I was pretty tightly wound and cranky last night (apologies to the stich and bitchers who had to put up with me being surly while ironing).

I broke two sewing machine needles sewing the belt loops on the utility belt before I figured out what not to do.

Around 11, as I was finishing up the sewing, I heard from outside somewhere and angry, at least slightly drunken male voice scream "Shut the god damned door!", followed by the clear sound of a slap, skin on skin, and an adult female voice shouting "Ow!" I went out on the balcony to try to figure out where the sound was coming from, but I couldn't hear anything else.

This morning, there was a note up in the elevator about a man trying to get into our building, having threatened someone who wouldn't let him in that he'd "be back".

Some days, I think I don't own enough weaponry.

...I'd be a little concerned, yeah. That's the kind of shit I'd expect on the South Side.

And clearly the guy's an idiot; there are ways to get into the building without someon letting you in...

Which doesn't really make me feeling better.

You did say he was at least mildly intoxicated...

You keep posting, or I'll have to come hunt down your body - and I really don't wanna do that :(

Nope, two seperate guys - the slapping drunk sounded like someone who was already inside. The threatening guy was outside. Sounds like yesterday was a bad and scary day for my neighbourhood.

We love you even when you're surly, darling.

And I think that I'm going to start being more careful about locking the door when I'm at home. (Well, making sure that it's closed, for one!)

Good grief, I hope the police were called. This person could be a danger to not only the threatened party, but everyone in your apartment building. How awful.

I once had to call the cops because someone in the building I was living in for one summer in Boston was being beaten (and I can still hear that horrible sound in my head). It was frightening.

I didn't call the police because I couldn't give anything more on location than "somewhere within a 5 minute walk to this building" based on the sound.

Apparently the note-leaver didn't call the police either - the note mentioned regretting not calling.

(((hugs)))

And you weren't surly, just a lot more quiet than usual.
